Are the four parts of the world, four seasons and four elements, really so distant from each other? To answer these questions the author sets out for a journey from the Czech Republic, the geographical center of the Old World, to Paris and Istanbul, Madrid and Omsk, Amsterdam and Kiev, Verona and Kaliningrad, to ancient Orthodox monasteries of the North Greece, Egyptian desert, and the hippie district in Copenhagen. Among the characters of the book there are historical personages and Orthodox writers, great composers and popular rock-musicians, famous scientists and inventors. The book is written in the form of ironic artistic essays.
