The monograph inquires into one of the most difficult and urgent problems - formation of compound words in the Tatar language. The work raises criteria of distinguishing compound words and similar language units (free syntactic combinations and set-expressions) and singles out three ways of compound words formation, such as composition, lexicalization and simultaneous suffixing. The research is based on analysis of interrelations between component parts of compound words. More than 150 types of compound words formation with models and sub-models are revealed, as well as their structural-semantic features.
