The collective scientific monograph is the second issue in a series of monographic works of the Sector of Historical-Demographic and Historical-Geographical Studies of the Russian North of the Institute of Language, Literature and History in Federal Research Centre Komi Science Centre. Ural Branch, RAS. The monograph deals with the study of the process of population settlement in the territory of the Komi Republic within its modern borders. The monograph presents an analysis of historical and geographical sources on the history of the population, scientific research on the topic, the dynamics of the development of the settlement network of rural and urban settlements, the peculiarities of the formation of the settlement system in the Komi Republic are considered.
