The “war between sexes” was one of the phenomena, which determined the essence of European modernism at the end of the XIXth – beginning of the XXth centuries. The image of a “new woman” became a symbol for the modernist art. In Kiev and Lvov, in contrast to Paris or Munich, the appearance of a new woman was welcomed less apocalyptically.
