The book is dedicated to officers - defenders of the Fatherland, who sometimes at the cost of their own lives protect it from enemies and know well what an officer's honor is. Using the example of several generations of the Belarusian Shimkevich family against the background of the country's history, the officer dynasty is shown, whose representatives took part in the First World War, fought for the establishment of Soviet power after the October Revolution, participated in the war in Spain, heroically fought the enemy during the Great Patriotic War, went through Hungary and Afghanistan and today stand guard over the Motherland.
