The book by the outstanding Russian linguist and ethnographer S.K. Bulich (1859 - 1921) is devoted to the history of linguistics in Russia from the XIIIth to XIXth century. Particular attention is paid to the history of linguistics under Peter the Great and his successors. The work is completed by the chapter devoted to the development of linguistics in Russia during the first quarter of the XIXth century.
