This encyclopedia today has no analogues in the world. A group of the scientists has been working on this large-scale project for about eight years. The project brought together more than 50 specialists - linguists, literary critics, historians, ethnologists, archaeologists, economists, including researchers from North and South Ossetia, Moscow, Kyiv, Rostov-on-Don, Mineralnye Vody. The articles of the publication reflect all aspects of the Nartiada. These are history, storytellers, plots and cycles, heroes, parallels with other myths, mythological roots and areal connections of the Ossetian folk epic, a comparative analysis of Ossetian legends with other versions of the Nartiada, the place of the Nart epic in the world system of epics, and much more.
