The book is dedicated to Felix Dzerzhinsky, a famous figure of the Soviet state and the Communist party, and to his work as the head of the ChK/OGPU (the Extraordinary Commission/the United State Political Directorate). In the book the author studies Dzerzhinsky’s political activities, as well as his moral principles. Using various materials, first of all numerous archive sources, the author shows Dzerzhinsky’s contribution in formation and development of the soviet national security services, their legal status, staff policy, as well as in the national economy renewal during the Civil war and the new economy policy years.
