Progressive benefactors or guardians of patriarchy - The school in Naleczow (first half of the XXth c.) is part of the last chapter in the history of Polish landownership. In the institution, which was run by landowners, women of different classes, mainly peasant women, were trained in professional housekeeping. The author talks with the families of teachers, with children and relatives of graduates, explores archives, the interwar press, scientific works and asks the question of how the relationship developed between landowners and peasant women; What is the significance of the efforts of ladies from noble houses to bring peasant women closer to them? The landowners describe how the system of women's education in Poland developed, how the perception of the role of a housewife, a free and independent person, changed, how women supported each other in the realities of that time. A story about old class differences and the rocky road to emancipation.
