L.I.Saraskina encompasses various relations of F.M.Dostoevsky with Russian writers and thinkers of the XIXth and XXth centuries. His concepts of “Russia vs. Europe”, “Russian idea”, “Russian nihilism” are investigated in relation to the works by Pushkin, Chaadaev, Khomyakov, Rozanov, Solovyov, and Berdiaev. The author elucidates obscure literary sources of the novel “The Possessed” and provides a new interpretation of the novels “The Gambler” and ”The Brothers Karamazov”. Evaluation of the influence of his ideas upon the development of Russian conservatism is provided.
