The dictionary contains the most popular Russian proverbs and their variants. Every entry contains a proverb, usually followed by usage labels, lexical and grammar variants in the parentheses, then goes explanation of the proverb and the situation of its proper usage is described. If necessary, words, which could make it difficult to understand the meaning of the proverb, are explained. A special part of the entry is dedicated to a historical and etymological commentary, which contains information on the origins of the proverb. Quotations from publicist works and belle-lettres of the XIXth – XXth centuries are used as examples of the proverbs’ usage. All the proverbs are put in the alphabetical order of the prop words.
