From May to August 1918, the collective fantasy novel "Devil's Dozen," written by thirteen leading Russian fiction writers, was published in the "Petrogradsky Golos" newspaper. It was started by A. Amfiteatrov and F. Sologub, continued by V. Nemirovich-Danchenko, P. Gnedich, Ignaty Potapenko, and Andrey Sarin. Besides them, A. Averchenko, A. Kuprin, A. Green, and others were listed as co-authors. However, the newspaper, along with other "bourgeois" publications, was closed by the Bolsheviks, leaving the novel unfinished. "Artifact" corrects the notable gap and publishes a completed novel.
