The book is a reprint of the edition of 1859. Natalia Shpilevskaya, the author of the book, was the first to acquaint the Russian public with the outstanding works of the Swedish fiction and life and works of Swedish authors. In 1859 in St. Petersburg she opened the first Sunday school followed by several female schools and rural schools in Ekaterinodar, Tiflis, Chernigov and other provinces.
