In Deputies of the First Parliament, Ahmet Demirel discusses the members of the Parliament during the Armistice period and the members of the newly established Parliament in Ankara. It examines how the members who served in the last parliament of the Empire took part during the War of Independence, who these names were, and the social position, profession and educational status of the deputies who appear in different ways in the sources. It investigates the political legacy transferred from the empire to the nation-state within the most prominent power of the period: the Parliament. By tracing the emergence of elections and representatives in Turkey's political history, it looks as closely as possible at the interlocutors of the debates that left their mark on the period.
