The publication presents a wide variety of artistic textiles richly decorated with embroidery and lace: festive towels and tablecloths, items of clothing, and accessories. The catalogue also features examples of patterned weaving, printed fabrics, and lace by the meter. Most of the items were created by Russian craftswomen of the Kazan Volga region in the second half of the 19th – first half of the 20th century. A special place in the museum collections of Tatarstan is occupied by objects representing unique Russian artistic crafts of the Kazan Governorate — lace-making in the village of Rybnaya Sloboda and openwork embroidery in the village of Shushary. Most of the items are published here for the first time.
