The work represents the first monographic research where you can find linguistic analysis of D. Kugultinov's original poetic identity. Linguistic picture of the poet's world is shown on the material of culture specific vocabulary and phraseology. The materials are considered in three usages: linguistic, poetic-linguistic and idiolect. The language units analyzed have symbolic, etalon and metaphoric meanings in Kalmyk culture; they are reflected in myths, legends, customs, ritualistic behavior, folklore and religious discourses. That is why Kugultinov's works are compared with text materials of legends, fairy tales and epos of Dzhangar.
