The monograph was developed on the basis of a detailed study of the entire set of files of the Crimean newspaper "Terdzhiman" (1883-1918), the lifetime edition of its permanent editor and publisher I. Gasprinsky (1851-1914). Particular attention is paid to the part that was published in the Crimean Tatar language, in some cases noticeably different, and since 1905 practically does not have a Russian version. Hundreds of various articles and notes published in the newspaper in different years, as well as a large number of other materials, including rare archival sources, formed the basis for highlighting an objective picture of everything that happened in the Crimea in 1883-1914, regarding the national literary , cultural, educational, religious, economic and political component.
