The model described in the book had been worked out by the director of the Network for Ethnological Monitoring and Early Warning of Conflicts Valerii Tishkov. It was discussed by the Network participants during their seminar in Lymassol (Cyprus) in October 1995. The model is based on the matrix that can be used in order to avoid ethnic conflicts on different levels and is considered to be an important achievement in this sphere.
