The book by the outstanding domestic ethnographer V. Bogoraz (1865-1936) is the result of many years of research work in the Kolyma district of the province of Yakutsk and the expedition to Kamchatka, the Anadyr region and the Chukchi Peninsula. The author examines various aspects of material culture of the Chukchi, describes their housing and household utensils, clothes, food, types and means of production, as well as basic occupations - deer breeding, dog breeding, hunting and fishing.
