This publication contains two memoirs by Stepan Stebelsky («Khrin»), commander of the UPA 24th Tactical Sector «Makivka,» namely, Through the Laughter of Iron (Kriz smikh zaliza) and Winter in the Bunker (Zymoiu v bunkri), as well as an account by Oleksa Konopadsky («Ostroverkh») entitled «The Memoir of Platoon Leader ‘Ostroverkh’» (Spomyny Chotovoho «Ostroverkha»). Both authors describe their UPA activities in the Lemko and Drohobych regions in 1944-1949.
