In documentary essays on the history of the development of Chernivtsi, the author outlines the Austrian and Romanian periods, emphasizing information about architects, builders and developers. In order to refute many myths, stories, rumors without documentary basis, which arose on the basis of the growing interest in this topic and began to spread, in particular, in authoritative publications about the city, M. Nykyrsa turned to solid materials. Therefore, each essay is accompanied by a list of sources used from the State Archives of Chernivtsi region and the contemporary press, which reveal the names of developers, architects, organizers and other persons involved in the creation of the architectural ensemble that distinguishes Chernivtsi among Ukrainian cities.
