This year marks the 223rd anniversary of the birth of Mari Ivanovich Brosset, a famous French scientist who made a huge contribution to Caucasian studies. Despite the fact that his area of interest was mainly Georgia, his works contain a lot of information covering the history of the peoples of the Caucasus. That is why we decided to present the reader with materials from those published in Russian. There is no doubt that they will be of interest to many scientists, students and just readers. Moreover, the selection includes not only his works, but also translations of documents, which is of interest given the shortage of sources necessary for studying the history of the North Caucasus.
