The present collection includes all the letters of the Russian chemist and composer Alexander Porfirievich Borodin (1833-1877) discovered to date. The first volume contains 176 letters, four of which are missing from Sergei Aleksandrovich Dianin's edition (1928). A previously unpublished drawing by Borodin is reproduced. In cases where the autographs of the letters have been preserved, the text has been verified according to the original sources. The first volume also includes genealogies of Borodin and his wife and a preface by Dianin, which has not lost its relevance to this day.
