The book is dealing with Boris Grigoriev's work of the 1910-1920s restricting to a limited number of contemporary subjects. The given research is centered around the cycle "Russeia" (1917-1918) in painting and drawing, costumes for the "Snow Maiden" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1919), a series of portraits of actors from the troupe of the Moscow Art Theatre dating to 1922-1923, and finally portraits of Maksim Gorky of 1926 - all these items can be united under a single title of the "Faces of Russia".
