Ivo Andric (October 9, 1892 – March 13, 1975) was a Yugoslav writer, diplomat, ambassador of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in Germany from 1939. He was born in Doc na Lasva near Travnik, and his family is originally from Sarajevo. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1961 for "a complete literary work on the history of a nation", with the novel On the Drina Bridge (1945) as the highlight of that work.
