The book is based on the archival documents, memoirs, and reminiscences of the witnesses and sheds light on the activities of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, the Ukrainian Revolution in Zakarpatie in 1939 and on the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). The author refutes the myths on the creation of the UPA by the Nazis and tells about the anti-fascist activities of the Ukrainian insurgents. Some attention is also paid to the Ukrainian-Polish interethnic conflict of 1942-1944. The book also sheds light on the operations of the Russian special services on the extermination or arrests of the leaders of the UPA and OUN: E.Konovalets, S.Bandera, R.Shykhevich, V.Kuk, L.Rebet and D.Kliachkovskii.
