The memoirs of Zakhar Akimovich Alferov (1874-1957), a Don Cossack of the village of Yelanskaya, an ataman of the Upper Don District (1918) and a major general, have recently been found in several Western archival collections. Despite the poor preservation and fragmentation, their original text has been completely restored.
