Tranlated from Polish by A. Kozhinova. The book examines the presence of Armenians in Poland in various historical periods – from the medieval kingdom under the Piast dynasty to the Third Republic. Extending the term "Polish Armenians" to all Armenians who enjoyed privileges once granted by Polish kings, the authors consider the Armenian population of the entire multi-ethnic and multi-confessional Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1569 to 1795 as the object of their research. This confederate parliamentary elective monarchy, whose kings were elected by the highest legislative body (the Sejm), included the lands of most of modern-day Poland and Ukraine, the entire territory of Belarus and Lithuania, and even certain regions of Latvia and Russia. Therefore, the book includes stories dedicated to the Armenians of Kyiv, Volyn, Pokuttya, Vilnius, Slutsk, and elsewhere. Many events and characters in the book are associated with Lviv and Kamianets-Podilskyi – cities where, in the 15th–18th centuries, The most significant Armenian communities existed.
