The book is dedicated to the study of musical text in the films of Andrei Tarkovsky. Music in the works of a master represents a multi-layer phenomenon. The soundtrack captures the evolution from the discrete nature to continuity. Specific types of musical semantics are projected in the visual imagery of the movie. In such circumstances, the image is able to create new dimensions of musical meaning, to comment on the musical culture in the historical aspect, producing an individual musical-historical myth.
