The selected works by Chingiz Aitmatov were published on the occasion of his 75th anniversary. The prose of this great Russian and Kyrgyz writer gives a possibility to listen to the dialog of the two cultures - Eastern and Western - that takes place in the soul of our famous contemporary. The present edition includes stories "Proshchai, Gul'sary! (Farewell, Giulsary!)", "Belyi parokhod (The White Steamboat)", "Pegii pes, begushchii kraem moria (The Skewbald Hound Running along a Sea Shore)" as well as the novel "I dol'she veka dlitsia den'... (And Day Longs more than a Century...)". The title begins with the article of a well-known writer and philosopher Georgy Gachev.
