The monograph is an analysis of the activities of the Government of National Unity (GNU), the factors that led to an acute crisis and its formation in 2014. At the same time, a retrospective view is given on the problem of choosing the head of state-president in Afghanistan, special attention is paid to the presidential elections of 2014 and 2019.
