Valery Bondarenko is a well-known Russian film critic, cultural expert, writer and pedagogue, who established personal cinematographic school attended by businessmen, doctors, students and the unemployed. The collected notes on Russian cinematograph, which Bondarenko started to write in the early 1990s and reviewed not long ago are for the first time published on glossy pages, while the words and illustrations (postmodernist collages by G.Grekov) on the pages are totally "non-glossy" and combine incompatible things. The book narrates not so much about concrete Russian cinematographic events, but much more about trends, new rules of the game and aesthetical taste in the situation of the end of the century. "Nowadays people have lost interest to art, everyone wants something unusual and everything has become so unusual that commonness has turned into mainstream."
