The monograph presents evolution of customary law, its transformation under Russian strategic management; the role of Shariat, which is a modernized Adat in the Northern Caucasus; evolution of Russian legislation in the region, norms of which were partly included into the legislative system of the peoples of Caucasus (for example, as judicial and administrative authority).
