The book presents absurdism in Bulgarian art as a creative approach which is not new but has been largely ignored by critics, estheticians and culturologists. According to conventional thinkers, the absurd in art is an oddity or an extreme. According to conservative estheticians and critics, it is an offbeat topic. That is why it has been left out of the theoretical discourse, although some modern artists are associated with it. So it's about time that absurdism begins to be studied properly. The present book aims to contribute to the effort. It presents Bulgarian artists, most of whom have not been studied before.
