The monograph presents collective experience of understanding the role and significance of personal personality and creativity of A.V. Nikitenko in the history of Russian literature of the 19th century. The portrait of the famous critic is revealed from the perspective of his internal – reading – activity, which provides new information about his view of literature and serves as the basis for revising established interpretations and assessments of the personality himself, who remains in the shadow of censorship.
