The book tells about events of the first half of 1902 in the area of Lerin, a.k.a. Florina, in the north of present-day Greece close to the border with the Republic of North Macedonia. The events were associated with a rebel force called Marko's detachment and involved the book's author, Hristo Silianov. They constituted a separate period in the revolutionary struggle in the Lerin area. The detachment leader, Marko, was a member of the Macedonian liberation movement who was not among its best-known figures but still left his mark.
