Nothing can tell more eloquently about the regime of Hlinka's Slovak People's Party than the authentic sources he left behind. The annotated "primer" is an imaginary time machine, transporting us to a time when democracy in Europe was offside and the rules of the game were determined by the fascist powers. Texts in the anthology demonstrate in one place the whole spectrum of the Hlinka Party world of thought: its innermost worldview truths, the founding and building myths of the Slovak state, the form of the personality cult, imitating the propaganda of the National Socialist "big brother", as well as bizarre forms of post-war legendarization of the state and its president Jozef Tiso. The accompanying explanation to the primer demonstrates how the spirit of the originally nationalist-authoritarian regime changed through political language, which, under the influence of domestic and foreign factors, transformed into a regime of national socialist type, eventually mutating into a hybrid regime without a clear political identity. It is a statement about the mentality of political culture, which survived its clinical death after 1945 and survives in Slovak society to this day.
