At the turn of the 20th century, Russian Jewry had three main paths: revolution, exile to the United States, or the Palestine to establish their own domain.
Idealists moved to the Palestine, with a variety of goals. Some wanted to build "Jewish socialism"; others wished to work in the land of their own; yet others, like Jabotinsky, felt it their duty.
In the end, in a remote Turkish province, a new world was built: the State of Israel. This new world had a decidedly Russian hue: heroes of Israel had Russian roots so deep that until the mid-70’s, every single one of Israeli Prime Ministers had been born in the Russian Empire.
This book follows the establishment of this profoundly Jewish realm, at the core of which were people like Vladimir Jabotinsky, who, at the start of their journey, did not even speak Yiddish, but only Russian.
