A sheltered boy from the small town of Bustina (then Czechoslovakia), Andrew led a carefree childhood, but at the age of thirteen his world was shattered. Andrew’s wartime odyssey began with deportation to the Mateszalka ghetto in Hungary, and from there to Auschwitz-Birkenau. He survived a death march to the Mauthausen concentration camp, and was ultimately liberated from the Gunskirchen concentration camp.
