The book is devoted to the dramatic events that occurred in western Ukraine in the first weeks of the fight on the Soviet-German front. In the period from June 22 to June 30 one of the largest tank battles of World War II took place. About 3,600 combat vehicles from both sides participated in this battle. Soviet tank crews showed miracles of bravery and courage, but lack of combat experience and military and political situation did not allow the Red Army to achieve the victory. Most of Soviet soldiers were killed, some units were surrounded. However, although for a short period, the troops of the South-Western Front managed to restrain the enemy’s extension into the territory of the Soviet Union. Text publication is based on archival documents and photographs; the book has color illustrations of equipment and maps of war operations.
