The author of these stories is not a professional writer, but a cabinet-maker. A man of difficult fate, Gershon Strauss (born in 1921), at the end of his life, considered it his duty to resurrect and immortalize his fellow countrymen from the Jewish town of Varenge near Lviv, who were destroyed during the Nazi occupation.
