The third volume of "Writings" by historian G. Popov includes monographic study of the "History of Yakutsk city. 1632 - 1917: brief sketches", prepared by the 300th anniversary of the city (1932), and not published during the lifetime of the author. Sketches cover a significant period of time from the first penetration of Russian servitors into the North-East of Asia in the early XVII century to the political events in Yakutia in 1917. The book contains interesting data on urban planning, management, budget, estates, industry, and cultural life of Yakutsk. The supplement includes 6 plans Yakutsk of 1770 - 1917 and explanations to them. A separate insert presents "A comprehensive inventory of farmsteads" to the plan of Yakutsk of 1770 (compiled by V. Skripin). The fourth volume contains a collection of previously unpublished documents and materials on the history of Yakutia, covering the period from ancient times up to the establishment of the Soviet power in Yakutia and formation of the YASSR (1922). Excerpts from the works of pre-revolutionary and Soviet scholars, local historians, the materials of the periodical press and memoirs, documents from the National Archives of Sakha (Yakutia) are widely used.
