The first volume of the new edition of the works by Saint Maximus the Greek includes the texts of the first period of his life in Russia before his conviction (1518—1525), and also the Greek works (with Russian translation) written in Italy and on the Holy Mt. Athos (1498—1516) by Maximus the Greek to the Italian Renaissance. The new edition is published in almost 150 years after the 3-volume Kazan ecclesiastical academy edition of 1859—1862 on the basis of the manuscripts of the end of the XVIth-the XVIIth century.
