The monograph is a collection of 7 texts by 10 authors who deal with the culture of rape in the environment of Slovakia and the Czech Republic. They talk about the attitudes, ideas and prejudices we have about sexual violence, which contribute to the fact that sexual violence and harassment continue to occur with impunity in our communities today. [...] The authors write about experiences from various areas of providing care and advocacy. They talk about how myths about sexual violence are perpetuated in religious teachings, or how silence about sexual violence leads to a lack of language and visibility for those who have experienced violence. They write about different communities, such as trans people in Slovakia, or about women migrating to Europe who escape violence, but this rarely stops after crossing borders. They talk about how the media use the tropics of naked dead women's bodies to sell vacuum cleaners, but also about what it's like to tell about their experience with violence in the police and talk about it in the Slovak online space. Last but not least, this book wants to point out that there is no uninvolved spectator, because silence is also a way of reacting. Talking about violence without talking about the structures and institutions that legitimize it and downplay it is not enough.
