This publication is compiled from letters from the winner of the State Prize of the Russian Federation V. Ya. Kurbatov (1939-2021) to the chairman of the presidium of the public charitable foundation "Revival of Tobolsk" A. G. Elfimov. The book also includes articles and reviews on the publications of the fund, written by an outstanding literary critic, one of the few who, in the most difficult conditions, preserved the honor and dignity of his profession.
