The monograph of the well-known Belarusian hunter E.K. Vostokov “Wild ungulates in Belarus”, which is the result of his many years of practical work in the field of hunting in Belarus and scientific research on various issues of hunting management. I would like to briefly talk about the significance of this serious work and advise specialists to get acquainted with it. The published book is a full-fledged educational and methodological manual on the rational use of populations of the main species of wild ungulates, for teachers and students of specialized universities. It will arouse undoubted interest among forestry and hunting specialists, hunting biologists, hunters, as well as among a wide range of readers. The list of primary sources used to write this book, which includes 375 titles, is striking. These are publications made in different years by well-known scientists and specialists of the hunting economy of Belarus, who have made a great contribution to the development of science in the biology of wild ungulates, their rational use. By the way, this list also includes 39 articles and books by the author himself, who devoted his entire career to hunting management, and his free time to hunting.
I will give the names of only some of the scientists: V. F. Dunin, P. G. Kozlo, Yu. G. Lyakh, V. S. Romanov, V. P. Romanovsky, B. P. Savitsky, A. D. Yanushko. The author of the book cited and systematized information on the most important aspects of the life of wild ungulates: biology, ethological features, nutrition, reproduction, population structure, competitive relations, diseases, population dynamics.
