The monograph presents an analysis of the spatial and territorial structuring of the Western border territories of the RSFSR/USSR in the period from 1917 to 1939. The problem of the formation of the Soviet historical and geographical space, which is relevant in modern scientific discourse, is analyzed in the context of the formation of a national system of mobilization preparation. The dynamics of changes in the administrative-territorial contours of the macro- and meso-level of the Western border strip of the RSFSR/USSR is shown through the interaction of military and civilian departments in the course of developing decisions on the mobilization preparation of the border area.
