On the eve of World War I Armenia was under the power of two states: Eastern Armenia was part of the Russian Empire and more considerable Western Armenia - part of the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic was formed on the territory of the former Eastern Armenia. In the Eastern Armenia native Armenian population was brutally annihilated. Annihilation of the Armenian people was systematically spent by Ottoman government during several tens years and was ended in the years of World War I.
