The book presents recordings of a wedding ceremony made in the 1940s and 1950s in the Urals and the Cis-Urals by the famous Russian folklorist Lev Lvovich Christiansen (1910-1985). They are part of an unpublished manuscript by the collector, given to the editor by his daughter Lidiya Lvovna Christiansen. The author reproduces in detail the rituals of the village of Pokrovskoye, Yegorshinsky District (now Artemovsky Urban Okrug), Sverdlovsk Region, the village of Kyn, Lysva District, Perm Region (now Lysva Urban Okrug, Perm Krai), shows fragments and songs of the ceremony in Perm, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk Regions, and includes the play "Ural Wedding...", created jointly with the head of the Kynovsky Ethnographic Ensemble E.I. Shabalina and intended for production with the Ural Folk Choir. Since the materials were recorded aurally, they were edited in preparation for publication. The book was edited and commented on by musicologist, professor, doctor of art history, member of the Union of Composers of the Sverdlovsk Region Tatyana Ivanovna Kaluzhnikova.
