Railroad transport was among the leading factors that insured victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War: over 443000 trains were delivered over the war period. Despite its location on the crossing of strategic roads, Kuibyshev (presently Samara) Railroad managed to serve successfully to the needs of both the Soviet Army and non-combatant population. The issue elucidates heroic activities of Kuibyshev railroadmen basing on their personal reminiscences and archival sources.
